What are the advantages and dis-advantages of a Full Eternity Ring, 3/4 Eternity Ring and a 1/2 Eternity Ring?  And what do each of those mean?  I’m here to help!

HALF ETERNITY RING

Half eternity means that any gemstones or diamonds on a ring go only half-way round the “shank” (the part that goes around the finger).  The above image is a perfect example.

ADVANTAGES:

  1. This is a budget friendly option.  Less stones mean less money.
  2. The area where you are most likely to bump the ring is at the back.  With half eternity, it means you’re only bumping metal, not stones, so you are less likely to lose stones from your ring.
  3. If you need your ring sized later, it will be very easy to size up or down one size or more.

DISADVANTAGES:

  1. I love looking down at my ring and seeing sparkle flashing back at me no matter what angle I’m looking at it!  Half Eternity just means you won’t see any sparkle from the back.
  2. Especially for wedding and anniversary bands – as the ring spins on your finger, it spins to show metal, not stones.

3/4 ETERNITY RING

3/4 eternity means that any gemstones or diamonds on a ring go somewhere in between half-way round the “shank” (the part that goes around the finger) and all the way.  The above image is a perfect example.

ADVANTAGES:

  1. This is a still a budget friendly option.  Less stones mean less money.
  2. The area where you are most likely to bump the ring is at the back.  With 3/4 eternity, it means you’re only bumping metal, not stones, so you are less likely to lose stones from your ring.
  3. You have more sparkle staring back at you as you turn your hand for selfies 😉 than you do with a half eternity shank.
  4. If you need your ring sized later, it will be relatively easy to size up or down one size.  More than one size is tricky but my husband is a Master Jeweler and he’ll make it happen if you need more!

DISADVANTAGES:

  1. I love looking down at my ring and seeing sparkle flashing back at me no matter what angle I’m looking at it!  3/4 Eternity just means you won’t see any sparkle from the very back.
  2. Especially for wedding and anniversary bands – as the ring spins on your finger, it spins to show some metal, not stones.

FULL ETERNITY RING

Full eternity means that any gemstones or diamonds on a ring go only all the way round the “shank” (the part that goes around the finger).  The above image is a perfect example.

ADVANTAGES:

  1. Like I said before, I LOVE sparkle!  Those that choose full eternity are completely willing to put up with any slight disadvantages to get that extra sparkle blinging back from all angles!  Take those selfies from any view!
  2. If your ring spins, you never see metal – only stones!!

DISADVANTAGES:

  1. Of course more bling means more money.
  2. The area where you are most likely to bump the ring is at the back.  With full eternity, it means you’re bumping stones, so you are more likely to lose stones from your ring.  No worries – just be more conscious of taking care not to bump your stones.  And if you do lose stones, you have our Lifetime Care Plan to take care of you!
  3. Sizing is more difficult.  If you’re not completely sure of your ring size, before you order, email me at Mail@LaurieSarahDesigns.com and give me your full name and mailing address and I’ll mail you a free ring sizer.  That way we get the size correct the first time!
  4. If you do need your Full Eternity Ring sized at any point, here is a blog about HOW RINGS ARE SIZED so you can see your options.

I can’t wait to see what you choose!

Sincerely,

Laurie Sarah
